GP Guide to Medicare

Adults (16 years or over)

HEAD:

63551 – Brain

  • Unexplained seizure(s)
  • Unexplained chronic headache with suspected intracranial pathology

CERVICAL SPINE:

  • Suspected trauma (63557)
  • Suspected radiculopathy (63554)

KNEE (16-49 years of age)

  • following acute trauma
  • inability to extend knee suggesting acute meniscal tear
  • clinical findings suggesting suspected acute anterior cruciate ligament tear.

Children (under 16 years of age)

BRAIN

  • Unexplained seizure(s)
  • unexplained headaches, significant pathology suspected
  • paranasal sinus disease not responding to treatment.

SPINE *

  • Significant trauma
  • unexplained neck/back pain with associated neurological symptoms
  • unexplained back pain, significant pathology suspected

ELBOW *

  • Significant fractures +/- avulsion injury suspected

WRIST *

  • Suspected scaphoid fractures

HIP *

  • Suspected septic arthritis
  • suspected slipped capital femoral epiphysis
  • suspected perthes disease

KNEE

  • Internal joint derangement
